Green Mini Demo Derby is a project by Colin Matthes. It includes a mobile solar electric power generator that fuels a demolition derby made up of remote control cars. Businesses have sponsored race teams, with each team having their own driver, car, and uniform. The cars have customized wood bodies and compete on a plywood course. This video documents the first heat of the first round that occurred on September 27th, 2013 during the opening of the Mary L Nohl Fellowship exhibition. The Championship Round and Trophy Presentation is scheduled for November 14th at 6pm.
The cars competing in the first heat were:
#0 – Milwaukee Shines
#04 – Long Arm Farm
#07 – Brenner Brewing Co
#33 – Riverwest Public House
#93 – Colectivo Coffee
#690 – Midwest Renewable Energy Association
Additional sponsors of the project include the Greater Milwaukee Foundation, Midwest Photovoltaics, Sky High Skateshop, Classic Slice Pizza, Ace Hardware, Wisconsin Rapids, Ape Girl (the film), Helios Solar Works, Beans and Barley, Finks, and BelAir Cantina.
