LG adds AC module to its NeON 2 lineup along with more powerful solar panel designs

Share

At last year’s Solar Power International show, LG debuted the LG NeON R ACe solar panel, an AC module with an LG-branded microinverter. At the virtual 2020 Solar Power International, LG now introduces the LG NeON 2 ACe, adding to LG’s NeON 2 lineup.

The LG NeON 2 ACe is a 60-cell panel rated at 365 W, along with its integrated 320-W microinverter. The NeON R ACe is rated at 375 W with the 320-W microinverter.

The design of LG’s new smart AC system allows for the factory-installed microinverter to be recessed into the frame of the panel and serve as one unit in conjunction with the junction box. The panel offers a straightforward installation, simplified accessories and no exposed DC connections. The LG NeON 2 ACe has been designed with aesthetics in mind using thin, circular-shaped wires that give it a minimalistic appearance, thanks to its Cello technology.

The LG NeON 2 ACe also includes a lifetime access to LG’s EnerVu monitoring platform so both customers and installers can track the long-term reliable performance and the real-time analytics of their solar system. It can also alert LG customer service to help address a technical issue remotely if one were to arise.

“With more and more people continuing to work from home, homeowners increasingly are turning to solar as a smart investment that puts their home to work for them, offsetting high utility bills,” said Brian Lynch, head of solar business development, LG Business Solutions USA.

“Our research shows that, when making such a seminal investment, the most important factors to homeowners are brand reputation, warranty and product variety for different scenarios,” he added. “LG provides our customers the peace of mind that they’re investing in a product backed by years of experience, manufactured under stringent research and development, and with an industry-leading warranty.”

In addition, LG has revamped its 60- and 72-cell lines by using larger wafers. Available to order now in the U.S. market, the L5 LG NeON 2 Black and N5 LG NeON 2 solar panels reduce white space between cells while keeping the traditional industry format. L5 Black is rated at 350 W and 20% efficiency.

“The upgraded L5 modules complete the trifecta that is the next generation of LG’s NeON 2 solar panels, including the N5 and ACe models introduced earlier this year,” said David Chang, senior director of LG Solar USA. “Given the significant and growing demand for residential solar as more people are staying at home and investing in their households, we are committed to continuous innovation to bring the best, optimized products to the market. Though we can’t physically be at SPI this year, we are keeping our foot on the accelerator with continued investments and advanced new products like these.”

In addition to the new 60-cell L5 panel, LG is introducing an updated LG NeON 2 (L5) 72-cell model, for commercial installations, a new module that is now available up to 425 W. NeON 2 panels offer higher efficiency by design with double-sided cell structure power generation that absorbs sunlight both from the front and from the rear of the module. 72-cell modules can be made with either a white backsheet for optimized front-side performance, or a transparent backsheet for overall greater system yield. Its flexible design also makes it easier to manage space when installing a large-scale system without sacrificing energy output.
