OMCO Solar fixed-tilt racking used in 650-MW Florida PV portfolio
OMCO Solar, a U.S. solar racking and tracker manufacturer, completed a 650-MWDC utility-scale solar portfolio in Florida. OMCO Solar partnered with Florida-based Moss, a national solar EPC, to complete one of the largest utility-scale fixed-tilt portfolios in the United States.
OMCO Solar’s CHOICE factory-direct mounting solution is now installed across six sites ranging from 450 acres to 550 acres, with a total of 1.85 million solar panels. The combined arrays produce enough clean solar energy to power nearly 100,000 homes.
“Moss chose OMCO’s CHOICE racking system for several reasons. Our nationwide footprint and manufacturing capacity in our four U.S. plants ensures we maintain the shortest lead times in the industry,” said Jason Burkett, business development manager, Jason Burkett at OMCO. “Also, our CHOICE system has a pre-assembled tilt bracket functionality which helps to reduce field labor — often upwards of 20 to 25 percent. We offer benefits that other competitors can’t deliver.”
OMCO has 65 years of domestic manufacturing experience, and more than 7 GW of U.S. manufacturing capacity across Alabama, Arizona, Indiana and Ohio. The company announced a $5 million investment into its solar manufacturing capabilities, bringing its total investment in equipment and tooling to $75 million to create a consistent domestic supply chain.
“What I like about OMCO Solar is that they lived up to their word; they made a commitment to us, and they executed on that commitment. Even with challenges, they were open and honest and we worked together as a team to solve them,” said Edwin Perkins, president of Moss.
Eric Goodwin, director of business development at OMCO Solar said: “It has been excellent to work with Moss, and we are excited about future utility-scale opportunities.”
