Harvest Solar completes 285-kW system for Michigan school district
Consulting agency Renewable Energy Evolution (REE) has partnered with Harvest Solar and Sunlarge Industries on delivery of an approximate 285-kW ground-mount solar array for Mason County Central Schools in Michigan. The array is being built for the intermediary school and high school in Scottville, Michigan. It is being financed using a PPA between Sunlarge and MCCS.
“This particular project was challenging as the legal, permitting, and technical settings for the site had to be successfully overcome before Harvest could mobilize and begin construction at the site,” said Brian Maillet, CEO of REE. “REE brought Sunlarge forward to Harvest for financing, and we were able to reach agreements with MCCS and obtain grants to allow this project to move forward. REE is excited to be part of the continued expansion of renewable energy in the state of Michigan.”
MCCS will save money under the PPA and will also have a platform to build a curriculum that will educate the next generation on the value of renewable energy today. This is just the beginning for MCCS, leading the way on energy self-reliance and resiliency, and the green economy/education.
”Michigan is a new market for solar behind the meter projects at public schools,” said Ken Zebarah, Director of Sales for Michigan/Indiana at Harvest. “The MCCS project presented tedious difficulties, but through a tenacious effort by all stakeholders ultimately has sharpened the focus for solar install possibilities in the Great Lakes State.”
